My professional background and qualifications:
|
|
 |
- Committed to continuing education
- First Aid and CPR certification through the American Red Cross
- 12 years of experience as a Personal Fitness Trainer
- Excellent references available
|
My enthusiasm for what I'm doing, and desire to teach others:
|
My college degrees were actually in law.
(I received an LL.B. from the London School of Economics, and Barrister-at-Law
degree
from the Inns of Court School of Law in England.)
However, my true love has always been
for fitness, health and sports.
So about 10 years ago, I decided to become a certified
personal trainer, and last year, I received my
Master's degree in Exercise Science.
Using my knowledge to help clients establish exercise programs, and then watch them exceed
their own expectations has become one of the greatest joys of my life.
|
Experience working with people with diverse needs and goals:
|
I have been working as a Personal Trainer for over 10 years now.
My clients come from all walks of life,
including: government employees, attorneys,
landscapers, small business
owners, and educators. Many are in high stress positions.
Some of my clients have come to me after an illness or an injury.
I have designed fitness
programs for many people with special needs.
These have included cancer survivors,
new moms,
people struggling with obesity, arthritis, depression, and osteoporosis,
or trying
to rehabilitate an injury. As a strong advocate of holistic care, I am
always happy to work closely with
your physical therapist, doctor, nutritionist or
care provider.
I have also designed programs for people who are training for a
specific sport, such
as before the ski season, or for a long distance biking trip
or marathon.

|
A Philosophy of Fun and Function:
|
As a trainer, I value functional fitness; whatever your mind or spirit desires,
your body should be able to attempt "con ganas!"
|
My flexibility in working with clients:
|
I make every effort to work around your time constraints.
|
My interest in your progress and well-being between sessions:
|
I like to contact clients frequently to check in on how your
program is going, and address any concerns you may have.
This helps keep you motivated and inspired, particularly in the beginning. I am very accessible and always on-call for advice.
|
|
My interest in helping you find all the information you want:
|
I am also happy to research topics which you have concern about,
and find resources for you to read further.
|
|
Lastly, is the role of exercise in my own life:
|
The first rule of any profession has to be "practice what you preach."
A healthy lifestyle and fitness have always been of utmost importance in
my family. My 90-year-old grandmother regularly hikes,
and she travels all over the world at any opportunity.
My 64-year-old mother is currently training for a walk across Britain.
Active involvement in low-tech outdoor activities, such as
running, swimming,
and hill walking has given us all a great sense of joie de vivre
and boundless
energy.
